You won’t want to miss out on the upcoming performance by Telluride at Wald Park. It’s happening June 14, at 7 PM. This exciting performance is part of our FREE Concert Series! So grab a lawn chair or blanket, some tasty snacks, and your favorite people, and join us for a memorable summer evening in the park. We can’t wait to see you there!

About Telluride: The band Telluride, hailing from Birmingham, was established in 1977. Their self-titled debut album, “Telluride,” was launched during the Christmas season of 1980. The track “Birmingham Tonight” quickly became a fan favorite. In 1985, Telluride was recognized as one of the nation’s top three bands by the Miller Brewing Company, leading to a lucrative contract with RCA Records. Their single “Breaking Away” made it to number 77 on the Billboard chart in 1985, earning praise as Alabama’s equivalent to Bob Seger by Billboard.

Chevy 6 @ I Love America Night – June 27, 7pm

You won’t want to miss out on the upcoming performance by Chevy 6 at Wald Park. It’s happening June 27, at 7 PM during I Love America Night festivities and followed by the grand finale fireworks show!

About Chevy 6: During the 38 years of existence, Chevy 6 has played for a massive array of events. From appearances on CBS’s “30 Minutes” at an orgiastic fraternity party, to 3,000 tie-and-tails attendees at a Rhode Island wedding soiree, to conventions, conferences and reunions aplenty, to the deck of the USS Alabama, to the deck of the steamboat Robert E. Lee, to Washington, D.C. for the “Taste of the South” festival, to Birmingham’s City Stages festival, to Gulf Shores’ Shrimp Festival, giant pep rallies at the University of Alabama, to the stages of some of the finest and funnest clubs in the south, to a huge fertilizer barn in Faunsdale, Alabama. Chevy 6 plies their trade wherever it needs plying.

I Love America Night

I Love America Night – June 27, 6pm

I Love America Night is a fun, family-friendly event to celebrate the independence of our country! Enjoy FREE swimming at the Aquatic Complex, sponsor booths, children’s activities, a live concert by Chevy 6 and a spectacular Grand Finale! This event is always well attended and parking will be tight! Shuttle service will be available and shuttle stops will be published as soon as they are available. We hope to see you there!!

June 3-7 Science R Us

Science R Us is an educational camp where campers will engage in exciting experiments and scientific demonstrations. Demonstrations provided by Traveling Scientist. The cost is $150 per camper.

June 17-21   Art Camp

Art campers will explore the creative visual arts, learning to see things differently and channeling their imagination into beautiful artwork. The cost is $175 per camper.

June 24-28 Lunch Bunch Camp

Lunch Bunch Camp is the perfect place for young foodies who love to cook and enjoy a scrumptious lunch! Campers will have a blast learning how to make their own delicious meals and snacks. Don’t worry about packing your lunch, we’ve got you covered! 

July 15-19 Art Camp

Free Summer Fitness Preview
 

Check out our free fitness preview this summer! Local instructors are hosting classes at the civic center that are FREE for residents and non-residents for a limited time.

Pickleball
  • Game Play: Pickleball combines the elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It was created for all ages and skill levels, and is played using paddles to volley a plastic ball with holes (similar to a wiffleball), on a badminton size court with a modified tennis net. All levels and ages of players are welcome. No experience necessary. Equipment is available for check out at the Rec Center. Tuesdays, 6:00-9pm; Monday- Fridays, 9am-12:00pm; and Saturdays 9am-noon seasonally.

  • Cost: Vestavia Hills residents are FREE with a VHCC Membership. Non-residents are $10 with a Member or sign up for quarterly league play.

Jazzercise combines dance, strength and resistance training with popular music for a full-body workout.

Monday Night Dance – EVERY Monday, 6pm

Join us every Monday night from 6:30-9pm at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center to show off your dance moves! This is a fun opportunity for seniors to let loose and enjoy dancing with others. Contact the front desk at 205.978.0166 to learn more about Monday Night Dance.

Silver Sneakers Exercise Class – EVERY Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 11:15am.

The Vestavia Hills Civic Center is home to Silver Sneakers classes starting with a Cardio and Strength class taught by Kristin Long! Classes will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:15am!

Lunch Bunch & Trip: Sylacauga, AL. Enjoy a tour of the Blue Bell Creamery in Sylacauga, AL. Meet at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center at 9am. Transportation provided.

Thursday, 6/27 –10am
