Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation offers a variety of fun and engaging activities tailored for adults. Whether you’re looking to stay fit, meet new people, or try something new, our programs provide something for everyone:
Basketball – Basketball is a fast-paced team sport where two teams of five players compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop. Basketball enhances coordination, teamwork, and fitness, making it an enjoyable sport for all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re looking to stay active, improve your game, or just have fun with friends, our league offers structured play with scheduled games, referees, and standings. All skill levels are welcome!
Soccer – Soccer, or football in many regions, is a popular team sport with two teams of 11 players. The goal is to score by kicking the ball into the opponent’s net while defending your own. It promotes endurance, coordination, and teamwork, making it enjoyable for all ages and skill levels.
Corn Hole – Corn hole is a popular lawn game where players take turns tossing bean bags onto a raised wooden board with a hole. Players score 1 point for landing the bag on the board and 3 points for getting it through the hole. Games are played to 21 points and can be played individually or in teams of two. It’s easy to learn and great for social gatherings.
Volleyball – Volleyball is an exciting team sport where two teams of six players compete to score points by sending a ball over a net and into the opposing team’s court. Players use their hands to serve, pass, set, and spike the ball, aiming to keep it in play while trying to land it on the other side. The first team to reach the required number of points wins. Volleyball promotes teamwork and agility, making it a fun game for all skill levels.
Softball – Softball is a team sport similar to baseball, played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Teams take turns batting and fielding to score runs by hitting the ball and running around four bases. The fielding team aims to get batters out through catches, tags, or force plays. Softball is a fun, social game that enhances coordination, teamwork, and strategy for players of all skill levels.
Flag Football – Flag football is a non-contact version of traditional football. Instead of tackling, players stop the play by pulling a flag from the ball carrier’s belt. Two teams compete to score points by advancing the ball down the field through running or passing plays. Fast-paced and fun, flag football emphasizes speed, strategy, and teamwork, making it suitable for all skill levels while promoting fitness and friendly competition.
Kickball – Kickball is a fun, playground style game where players kick a rubber ball instead of using a bat. Two teams take turns kicking and fielding, aiming to score runs by rounding the bases and returning to home plate. The fielding team tries to get runners out by catching the ball or tagging them. Easy to learn and suitable for all ages, kickball is perfect for social play and friendly competition.
Pickleball – Pickleball combines the elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It was created for all ages and skill levels and is played using paddles to volley a plastic ball with holes (similar to a wiffleball), on a badminton size court with a modified tennis net. All levels and ages of players are welcome. No experience necessary.
